WANTED – ASC SECRETARY

  • A person with computer skills, writing ability, organizational skills AND much time to spare.
  • A person who enjoys being “in the middle of things.” The Board conducts much business and discussion over a Yahoo Group so some familiarity with the ASC Board is a plus.
  • A person who has the ability to handle several items at one time.
  • A person who would enjoy attending the ASC Board Meetings three times a year – the day before the January Flushing Spaniel Show; a weekend meeting that could be anywhere in the country; and the day before the ASC National in July.
  • Other than the small salary paid to the incumbent, all expenses are paid.

If you feel you might be interested, please contact Dot Mustard , 931-456-6690, or Dr. Clyde Shaw , 903-463-1335.

You vote at the direction of the ASC Board and report items to the Board they need to be aware of. You are paid up to $400 per meeting for your expenses.

If you need further information please contact Dot Mustard , 931-456-6690, or Dr. Clyde Shaw , 903-463-1335.

The PPCPP (PURINA PARENT CLUB PARTNERSHIP PROGRAM ) is an on-going program that uses the membership of Cocker Spaniel breeders in the Purina Pro Club who have identified the American Spaniel Club as their parent breed club. Then these breeders must redeem the Purina Weight Circles. The dollar value of the weight circles is tracked during the year; at the end of the year, 10% of the accumulated value is credited to the ASC. One half of the amount is given to the Canine Health Foundation for use in the ASC donor advised fund. The other half is forwarded to the ASC for use in education, training, or rescue efforts. The first year of the PPCPP $1,079.87 was the total earned ($539.94 for the CHF, $539.94 to ASC); for 2004, a total of $2,414 was earned ($1,207 for CHF, $1,207 for ASC).

The ASC Board of Directors, at the April 2003 meeting, voted to budget the monies received under this program as follows: Breeder- Judges Education - 30%; Health-Related Research Projects - 30%; Rescue - 30%; and the Health Registry, website, etc. - 10%.
